Can Laser Hair Removal Be Used On The Face?

The sun seems to be making an early appearance this year, and temperatures are set to only improve over the upcoming weeks.  So it’s time to put away the fluffy jumpers and boots, to make way for the pretty dresses and glitzy sandals.  The summer is probably one of the best times of the year, where holidays are steadily approaching and the opportunity to relax and unwind lies ahead. Preparing for the summer often means adapting a routine of sun care, skin care and luxury beauty treatments. Laser hair removal is a pain-free, long lasting method you can include in your beauty regime, to keep your skin looking smooth, glowing and hair free.

The Usual Hair Removal Methods We All Know Of

Nobody wants the hassle of having to whip out a painful epilator, or endure the sore waxing treatments – let alone the time consuming, shaving routine we have to commit ourselves too.  That’s where the beauty of laser hair removal lies.  Not only is it a quick treatment, but it even works to permanently reduce hair in the long run!

Will It Work On The Face?

You will be pleased to know that you can have laser hair removal treatment on your face.  The laser can be used on many parts of the body. It works by emitting a high intensity light, which is then absorbed by the hair follicles that are situated beneath the skins surface.  The light then converts into energy, which destroys the follicles of the hair.  Treatments which are carried out regularly may result in lighter hair, or no hair in some places – although this varies between individuals.

What Other Areas Can The Laser Be Used On?

The laser can also be used on other parts of the body as well, such as:

  • Underarms and arms
  • Legs
  • Bikini line
  • Abdomen
  • Chest
After treatment you won’t need any recovery time – you can be on your way and enjoy the sunshine.  The results will speak for themselves, with hair not returning for around 4-6 weeks, which beats any other hair removal method by far.

Taking Care of Your Skin after Treatment

Looking after your skin is always a must during any time of the year.  Your skin needs vitamins and most importantly – water. As temperatures will rise, it’s important to stay well hydrated, and drink as much water as possible.  Using a good sun cream will also help protect you from UV rays, especially if you are going abroad.

After you have had the laser hair removal treatment, you should try to avoid tanning beds or excessive sun exposure, for at least two weeks.  It is also advised that sun cream – which has an SPF of less than 30+ should be avoided. Also, don’t be tempted to shave for between 48-72 hours after treatment, and try not to use any other type of hair removal during this phase either.

Summer will soon be arriving, so start pampering yourself and give your skin the extra TLC it deserves, with laser hair removal.
